Humans are intensely emotional beings, but because not all of our feelings are conveyed in the manner in which they should be, we prefer to express them in a variety of ways.
Music.
Music, particularly for young children and teenagers, may be a highly constructive and beneficial way of expressing one's true self and how one is feeling at the time.
Since it might be difficult to describe our emotions verbally at times, music can be a much more delicate way of expressing ourselves rather than words alone.
Experts theorize that humans developed a reliance on music as an effective mode of communication because it develops a sense of social connectivity, not just with one another but also with life itself.
Music is special. It can help individuals form connections to one another, whether at sports activities or at concerts or even when parents sing lullabies to their children.
Music serves as a form of treatment for the human brain. It may effortlessly help you enhance your mood and energy levels, your memory and attention, your motivation, and even your sleep.
Regularly listening to music activates areas of the human brain that are associated with memory, emotion, and speech, which, believe it or not, slows the ageing process of the brain.
However, how can music assist us individually?
I've chosen to research on Twitter and Instagram to find out the correlation between music and human beings as individuals.
On Twitter, when asked if music had an impact on their mood, 100 per centย (11) of peopleย respondedย yes.
On Instagram, the same question elicited a similar response: 95 per centย (42) voted yes, leaving only 5% (2) with a negative vote.

Another topic addressed was what genre of music people tend to listen to when they're feeling down. On an Instagram poll, 85 per cent of users (33) voted for sad/nostalgic music, whereas only 15 per cent (6) opted for positive/cheerful songs.

On Twitter, the same category of melancholy and nostalgia also triumphed, with a majority of 63.3 per cent of votes.
Thus, the true question is... Why do individuals seek music therapy when life events take
place?
Humans frequently connect places, events, objects, things and tunes to emotions.
When we are unhappy, we deliberately listen to sad music since they are related to past events, oftentimes more pleasant memories.
Through melancholic music, we replay our memories in the hope to revive the moment and feeling the same feeling at least once again.
Yet another question asked exclusively on Instagram was if people use music to cope with real-life and occasionally escape from it, and the response was, once again, affirmative.
86 per cent of people voted yes, whereas 18 per cent (7) voted no.

Does this mean that music escapism can be used as a technique of reflecting on our current reality?
In a few words, yes.
Music is more than just a means of escape; it is also becoming a coping method for many people.
According to previous scientific research, listening to music has been shown to decrease anxiety, blood pressure, and pain while also improving sleeping conditions, memory, and mood.
By doing so, our brains release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that activates the pleasure centres of our brains, which causes us to experience happiness.
Due to the repeated nature of this exercise, we can help our brain to relax and lower our anxious or depressive conditions if we do it regularly.
However, just like everything else in life, everyone is different in their way. Even though we are all human beings, we all feel things differently.
Some people are more susceptible to being influenced than others, and as a result, melancholic and nostalgic music can often cause them to feel depressed, whilst for others, it may feel comforting or even... pleasant.
It all comes down to your point of view and how you question things.
Musicality is, as a matter of fact, a requirement for survival. It enables us to experience nearly all of the feelings that we desire to experience in our life, as well as recall a particular time or person... perhaps even a prior vacation... a pet... or a concert? The options are unlimited, yet music fills a gap in our lives that cannot be filled by anything else.
